Searching for Color

Over the past few years I have found myself producing a lot of black and white images.  Combine this with doing the film work I have been doing with the Petri I was starting to wonder if I remembered what color was like! 

When I make images I have a general philosophy about color.  If the expression of color isn’t one of the first two things I want the viewer to notice, then going monochrome is considered.  So when I do color, I look for color that grabs the attention of the viewer. 

The semester of discontent continues, the pandemic is spiking again and the fall season is steadily and silently robbing us of daylight and nature’s organic color palette.  I need a little color right now. 

I didn’t shoot much in October, but when I did I sought out color.  A day spent in Over the Rhine in Cincinnati, a few minutes to spare before a meeting in Fountain Square, a couple hours at Crown Hill.  In each case, color was my target subject matter.  What I found plays in the slide show below.
